D Class Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers

D class Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers are specialized fire safety devices designed specifically to control and extinguish fires involving flammable or combustible metals. These types of fires are categorized as Class D fires and are commonly found in industries that handle reactive metals. Such environments include metal processing plants, laboratories, manufacturing units, and facilities dealing with metal powders or metal machining operations.

Unlike standard fire extinguishers, Class D extinguishers contain a specially formulated dry powder agent designed to safely suppress metal fires. Common extinguishing agents include sodium chloride, graphite powder, or other specialized compounds. When applied, the powder forms a protective layer over the burning metal, which helps absorb heat and isolates the fire from oxygen, effectively stopping the combustion process.

D  Class fire extinguishers are suitable for fires involving metals such as magnesium, titanium, sodium, potassium, and aluminum. Because metal fires react violently with water or standard extinguishers, using the correct Class D extinguisher is essential for safe and effective fire suppression.
